John David "JD" Roper, 82, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Orpha and Beulah Younce Roper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Roper and a brother, Kenneth Roper. JD was a US Army veteran, a dairy farmer and a member of Mt. Sinai Assembly of God. He enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Jean Tallent Roper; five children, Connie Underwood, Debbie Roper, John Roper, and Kim Nowak all of Franklin and Randy Roper and fiancé Beverly Montelone of Gainesville, GA; one sister, Betty Canter; four brothers, Earl G. Roper, Wayne Roper, Mac Roper and Burt Roper; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Mt. Sinai Assembly of God. Rev. John Raby and Rev. Robert Dryman will officiate. Burial will be in the Roper Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at Mt. Sinai Assembly of God.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Roper, Jacob Roper, Joey Nowak, Willie Boyce, Robert Boyce and Mike Holden.

Honorary Pallbearer will be C.B. Roper.
