Joann Atha Wolford Dale, 94, of Franklin NC, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026.

She was born to the late Oscar and Effie Moyers Wolford in West Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Braxton Dale; siblings, Jim Wolford, Byron Wolford, Gene Wolford, and Jimmy Wolford.

She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, painting, writing, sewing, and loved all flowers.

Joann is survived by her children, Larry Dale (Linda Dryman), Cynthia Stewart (T.W.), Michael Dale (Amy); sister, Grace Atkins; five grandchildren, many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 23rd at 2pm at Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Brandon Breedlove will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
