Janice Brandon Christy Shields, 78, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, January 03, 2015 at her residence.
A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Peggy Christy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George William "Buster" Shields who died July 7, 2014 and a sister, Edith Christy. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Brandon unselfishly spent her life helping others. She spent every morning and every evening in prayer and God's word and she loved sharing God's word with others. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crafts, sewing and was an excellent seamstress.
She is survived by three sons, Henry (Teresa) of Talbott, TN, Andy (Kathleen) and Allan (Diane) of Franklin; one sister, Beverly McMurray (Joe); six grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel), Amy (Waylon), Stephen (Betsy), Mark (Laura), Kathryn (Tyler) and Daniel; thirteen great grandchildren, Byron, Caleb, Carolyne, Isabel, Adeline, Wyatt, Andrew, Anna Kate, Nicholas, Abram, Kelsey, Kirsey and Kaleb; and caregivers, Mary Margaret, Lupe, Phoebe, Peggy, Karen and Christal.
Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Holmes and Rev. Albert Grey will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2- 3 pm Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Shields, Byron Shields, Stephen Apel, Mark Apel, Waylon Harris and Tyler Holmes.
