Obituary

James Roy Smith, 56, of Hamlet, NC, formerly of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013.

Born in Macon Co, he was the son of Pat Cantrell Smith and the late James Ray Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Smith. Roy graduated from Richmond Community College with Honors. He worked as an electrician for many years; was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Iotla Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Tracy Williams and husband Alvis of Greensboro and Tammy Ramirez and fiancé Thomas Terry, III of Rockingham, NC; three sisters, Anne Towell of Charlotte and Carol Peek and Linda Waldroop both of Franklin; four grandchildren, Hailey Williams, Travis Williams, Les Davis and Thomas Terry, IV and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 18th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Hensley and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Jones, Mike Simmons, Freddy Raby, Bill Stewart, Mike Tallent and Derek Jones.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
