Obituary
Mr. James "Jimmy" Elwin Cochran, age 94, of Suwanee, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2025.
James was born on July 10, 1930, in Gadsden, Alabama, to the late Joseph Elisha and Mildred May Cochran. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Thelma Shope Cochran; his sons, James Kevin Cochran and Mark Elwin Cochran (Shelby); and his daughter, Vickie Cochran Jenkins; and his former daughter-in-law Tina Cochran. James was a proud grandfather to Michael Cochran (Kelley), Christopher Cochran (Kayla), Luke Cochran, Avery Cochran, Ethan Cochran, Joshua Richey, and Alisha Adams; and two great grandkids Venice & Vilynn Mae Adams. He was preceded in death by his four sisters and two brothers, and is survived by one sister, Mary Thorton and a special cousin, Linda Foshee.
A proud veteran, James honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He devoted more than 60 years to a successful career in structural steel, working through Local Union 387. He was known for his exceptional work ethic, leadership, and skilled craftsmanship.
James was a dedicated member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee, where he faithfully attended and served for many years. He also volunteered with Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief, generously giving his time and talents to help those in need. His faithfulness, commitment to service, and strength left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Shadowbrook Baptist Church, Suwanee, GA, with Pastor Bobby Linkous, Mr. Donnie Thigpen and Pastor Jared Rumley officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Church. Interment with Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Prentiss Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin, N.C.
