James Patton Blanton Jr., known lovingly to family and friends as Jimmy, or Jim passed away on March 2, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born on August 23, 1938, in Richmond, Virginia, Jimmy lived a full and vibrant life that touched everyone who crossed his path.

Jimmy was the kind of man who never met a stranger. Whether he was standing in line at the grocery store or driving a car for the dealership he worked for. Anyone that met him or knew him would never forget him as he would always leave a smile on someone’s face. He has gone home to be with the Lord, whom he loved and served so faithfully.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cherie Lee Blanton in 2018 and his daughter, Diana Lynn Blanton in 2025.

Jimmy left behind two sons, James Patton Blanton The 3rd and Douglas Warren Blanton; four grandchildren, Amanda, Candace, Justin, and Jared, and nine great grandchildren.
