James "Jim" Robert Ashe, 63, of Franklin, NC, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024.
A native of Macon County, Jim was the third child born to the late Wiley Robert and Dorothy Daves Ashe.
Jim was an outdoorsman most of his life. He enjoyed hunting for deer and turkey, but fishing was one of his favorite pastimes. He graduated from Southwestern Community College with a degree in Auto Mechanics. Jim worked for 30-plus years for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). He ran heavy equipment for many of those years and even after retirement couldn't pass up an opportunity to use those skills. Jim worked his way up to the position of County Supervisor for the Macon County NCDOT Road Maintenance Department. He enjoyed watching college basketball and football games and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Alisa Wood Ashe; son, Brandon Ashe; daughter, Maranda Ashe LeFebvre (Kyle) of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Aiva Ashe of Franklin and Ezra, Luca, and Noah LeFebvre of San Diego, CA; brothers, Lewis Ashe (Wanda) and Tom Ashe (Emily); and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 11 a.m., at Macon Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11am, one hour before the service. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be at the Patton Methodist Church Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Flake, Tony Ashe, Alan Ashe, Bud Talley, Jack Hodgins, Bobby Carver, Bill Wood, Robbie Wood, Lane Cabe, and Wayne Lynch.
