James Robert “Bob” Angel, 92, of Franklin, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, surrounded by his family.
A lifelong resident of Macon County, Bob was the son of the late Lex Burton and Kandus Gibson Angel. He was also preceded in death by his siblings; Lex Angel Jr., J.D. Angel, Mildred Tyler, and Grace Poindexter; a grandson, Cody Angel; and a son in law, Ronnie Owens.
Bob spent his working years in the family construction business, where he took pride in honest work and helping build the community he loved. He was a devoted member of Mashburn Branch Baptist Church and served as a former choir director. Music was one of his greatest joys, and he traveled far and wide sharing his voice and his faith, singing to spread the Gospel.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Rozelle Lequire Angel; his children, Kathy Owens, Tony Angel, and Douglas Angel (Thelma); his grandson, Josh Owens; his sister, Maude Breedlove (Alvin); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Four Seasons Palliative and Hospice Care for their compassion and support.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Morris Tippett officiating.
