Jacob Danny Stewart, of Franklin, North Carolina was born December 19, 1933, in Etty, Kentucky. He passed away March 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends at the age of 92.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Avanell Chumley Stewart; his parents Mack Clellan and Easter Stewart; his brothers George Stewart, John Stewart, Charlie Stewart, Bill Stewart and Ben Stewart; his sister Susie Stewart Potter; and his granddaughter Trina Patten Neilson.
He is survived by his sister Louise (Sis) Hudson of Ft. Pierce, FL; five children, Theresa Vandegrifft (Joe) of Pt. St. Lucie, FL, Debbie Cramer of Monroe, LA, Sandy Patten of Franklin, NC, Jacob Stewart II (Darlene) of Searcy, AR, and James Stewart of Franklin, NC; 10 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 8 great grandsons, 10 great granddaughters, 1 great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Jacob grew up in McRoberts, Kentucky. At an early age he joined the military. Jacob served in the Army from 1948 - 1951, the Air Force from 1951 -1952, Army from 1955-1958 and Navy Reserves from 1968-1970. He served in Japan, Korea, Alaska, Germany, France, and the USA.
Jacob was the owner of Jacob Stewart Construction Company and was responsible for several building projects in St. Lucie County, Florida including condominiums, churches, and banks.
He was a man of many talents. Family and friends have the handcrafted woodwork he made; from dining room tables, pouting chairs to little children's chairs. Jacob either built or remodeled every house he lived in with his family.
Family and the Lord's church were important to Jacob. Jacob and Avanell always had a garden big enough to feed their family, can vegetables for the winter and have some leftover for his church family.
Jacob served as an elder for the Orange Avenue and Midway Road churches of Christ in Florida. He was currently serving as an elder at the Franklin Church of Christ.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 21st, at Macon Funeral Home. Jacob Stewart II will officiate. Burial will be in the Prentiss Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 20th, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jacob's grandsons.
James Stewart will lead everyone in prayer at the graveside.
Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
