Imelda Mendoza, 55, of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, February 4, after a brief illness.
Born in Mexico, she was the daughter of Juan Mendoza Rogel and Matilde Jimenez Reyes. Mrs. Mendoza was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Franklin, NC. Her family affectionately called her "Morena" or "More". She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved her dogs, Luna and Bola; spending time with her husband, and going to Salisbury, NC.
Mrs. Mendoza is survived by her husband, Oscar Gonzalez; son, Francisco Macedo and wife, Liane of Franklin, NC; grandson, Devin, of Franklin, NC; one brother, Gilberto Ortiz of Salisbury, NC; four sisters, Edilia Benitez of Salisbury, NC, Rosalba Macario of Mexico, Aida Lopez of Mexico, and Blandina Ramos of Mexico; and an aunt, Rufina Navarro. She is also survived by nine cousins, Erik Nunez, Marilu Nunez, Lauro Nunez, Maira Nunez, Teresa Rogel, Jose Nunez, Maribel Nunez, and Evodio Nunez; sister-in-law, Maria Castaneda; niece, Juana Ortiz; and a nephew, Fernando Ortiz.
The family will have a viewing on Friday, February 9, at 9am in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Salisbury, NC.
Funeral mass will be at 11am, following the viewing at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church cemetery.
