Obituary

Helen P. Holden, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug 3, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

Helen, a devoted wife, mother, and nanny, she was born and raised in Yellow Mountain near Cashiers, NC to the late Robert Lenoard Potts and Flossie McCall Potts. She attended Yellow Mountain Baptist Church where she was an active member and served as the church secretary for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

She was married for 49 years to the late Thomas D. Holden. Their love and devotion to each other and God was a testament for all who knew them. She had a one of a kind spirit. A cherished mother and friend who was loved by all who knew her and will be missed dearly.

If indoors, Helen could be found sewing, hosting tea parties with her great grandchildren, or working on puzzles. But she was happiest outside working in her garden, on the farm, or in her yard. She enjoyed life to the fullest, and never slowed down.

She is survived by her two sons, Reverend Tom Holden (Barbie) and Dwight Holden (Tracie), both of Cashiers; daughter, Sherry Cobb (Randall) of Salem, South Carolina; brothers and a sister, Curley Potts, Robbie Potts, Denny Potts, and Willene Conner.

Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers Jimmy and Roy Potts and a sister Gail Rogers, Helen's memory will be held in the hearts of her family and friends.

Helen's greatest joy in life was being a Nanny to her seven grandchildren, Joshua Holden, Jared Holden, Rebekah Dills, Jessica Cobb, Wade Cobb, Josie Holden, and Wyatt Holden; and to her six great grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in Stewart Cemetery, with her son officiating. Pallbearers will be Wade Cobb, Wyatt Holden, Joshua Holden, Jared Holden, Joshua Keith Dills, and Zachary Potts.

Helen loved flowers, but also her church. Memorials can be made to Yellow Mountain Baptist Church to further the spreading of the gospel.
