Helen Jamrog Blue, age 100, joined her beloved husband, Clyde, who passed away in 2015. They
celebrated 68 years together.
She was a native of Bay City, Michigan and the daughter of George A and Margaret M. Jamrog, who
both preceded her in death. Atso preceding her in death are: her son, Kerry V. Blue; her grandson,
Michael J. Blue; her brothers James, Donald and Robert Jamrog. Survivors include: her sons, Jim
Blue and Joe Blue; her grandchildren Rebecca Angel (Steve), Jacqueline Blue (Brett) and Jacob Blue (Alyssa); her great grandchildren Abigail Angel, Emmalynn Angel and Mya Blue; her uncle Stanley Jamrog; her sister-in-law Ruth Jamrog; several nieces and nephews, including favorite Bobby Jamrog.
Helen was a graduate of Flint Technical High School in Flint Ml, attended Oregon State University in
Portland OR and Manatee Community College in Florida. She was employed at General Motors
Corporation in Flint Ml, school boards in Genesee County Ml and Manatee County FL, Dow Chemical in
Bay City Ml and was executive director of Meals on Wheels in Manatee County FL for 25 years at the time of her retirement.
She was very actively involved in many civic organizations on a local, state and national level. Some of
these were: president of the Florida Council on Aging; treasurer/secretary of Health Systems Agency in
Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Manatee counties in Florida; president and charter member of the
Florida Association Nutrition Project Directors; White House Conference on Aging; 1981 Manatee
county Charter Study Commission; president of volunteers at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva NC;
People to People Project visiting Japan, China and South Korea; president of the Historical Society in
Manatee County in Florida and Macon County in North Carolina; volunteer at Harris Regional Hospital
Thrift Store in Sylva, NC and Carenet Thrift Store in Franklin NC; started the Food Bank in Manatee
County Florida to provide for needy families with an emphasis on infants and children; worked along
with the Red Cross during times of hurricanes in Florida to provide nutrition to the emergency and
rescue workers; president of Manatee County Mental Health; acting director of Manatee Opportunity
Council.
She was awarded the following: 1985 First Annual Regional Business Excellence Award as one of the 25
leading women executives in Southwest Florida; JC Penney business excellence award; community
service award from the American Association of University Women; award from the Horida Department
of Elder Affairs for her commitment and efforts; award from the Florida Council on Aging; Excellence
Award from Manatee County Florida for her efforts in fundraising; was named in Who's Who in the
South and Southeast 1982/1983.
