Obituary

Harold Jackson Welch, 94 of Franklin, formerly of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Allen Jackson Welch and Laura Hughes McCoy Welch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kate Smith Welch; six brothers, Odis, Floyd, Carl, Everette, Jud, and Darrell; and four sisters, Texie, Dove, Oleta, and Pallie.

Harold was of the Baptist faith. He faithfully served our country in the US Army during the Korean conflict. After returning to Macon County, he became a charter member of VFW Post 7339 in Franklin, NC.

He is survived by one sister, Ann Black of Jonesboro, TN; one sister in law, Hazel Breedlove Welch of Franklin, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be at 2pm on Thursday, April 13, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

Burial will be in the Tellico Baptist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 in Harold's memory.
