Guy Owen Duvall, 84, of Macon County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his family who loved him so very much.

Born November 13, 1941, in Macon County, Guy was the son of the late Judson and Isabella Duvall. He spent his life deeply rooted in his family, his faith, his community, and the mountains he called home.

Guy shared 65 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandra Norton Duvall. Together, they built a life centered around faith and family and created a legacy that now reaches through generations.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Norton Duvall; his children, Robin Duvall Spivey (Kevin) and Mickey Duvall (Katie); and his grandchildren, Derek Roland (Debi), Michael Mathis, Tanner Duvall, Mikey Duvall (Savannah), Wyatt Duvall, and Abigail Duvall.

Guy was also blessed with great-grandchildren Judson Roland, Banks Roland, Zeb Roland, Lilah Mathis, Kenlyn Duvall, and Killian Duvall, as well as step-great-grandchildren Taylor Stamey, Madison Stamey, and Jaxon Stamey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judson and Isabella Duvall; his sister, Janice Dale Duvall; and his beloved grandson, Parker Mathis.

Guy lived a life of service and, above all, a life devoted to sharing the Gospel. He pastored Oak Dale Baptist Church for 30 years and Ridgecrest Baptist Church for 23 years, faithfully serving his congregations for more than five decades. Throughout those years of ministry, Guy had the privilege of leading countless souls to Jesus Christ. The true measure of his ministry cannot be counted in years, sermons preached, or churches served, but in the lives changed, the families touched, and the souls who came to know Jesus because Guy faithfully answered God’s call on his life. His greatest legacy was his faith, and that legacy will continue for generations.

Outside the church, Guy owned the Big Dollar grocery store for 10 years and was a Certified General Appraiser and Real Estate Broker, for more than 50 years.

His love for young people and athletics was another important part of his life. Guy coached Little League athletics for several years. For 20 years, he was known as the “Voice of Panther Football,” calling games from the pit and becoming a familiar and beloved voice to generations of Panther players, families, and fans.

More than his many accomplishments, Guy will be remembered for the life he built, the faith he lived, and the people he loved. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, coach, mentor, and friend. His influence can be seen not only in his own family, but throughout the community he faithfully served for so many years.

Those who knew Guy will remember a man whose life was intertwined with faith, family, service, and community. Although his earthly ministry has come to an end, the seeds of faith he planted will continue to grow in the countless lives he touched. His sermons may have ended, but the Gospel he spent his life proclaiming lives on in the hearts of those he led to Christ.

Guy’s family takes great comfort in knowing that after a lifetime spent telling others about Jesus and preaching about his heavenly home, he has now entered it.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Parker Mathis Memorial Scholarship, honoring the memory of Guy’s beloved grandson and continuing a legacy that meant so much to him and his family.

Pallbearers will be Derek Roland, Judson Roland, Michael Mathis, Kevin Spivey, Wyatt Duvall, Mikey Duvall and Tanner Duvall

Pastors of the Macon Baptist Association will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 27th from 6-8pm at Macon Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 28th, at Iotla Baptist Church at 11am. Rev. Brandon Breedlove and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be at Fouts Cemetery.
