Grace Marie Houston, 84, of Franklin, NC passed away on January 7, 2025. She was born in Washington D.C., on December 23, 1940, to the late Grayson and Freda Tallent.
Mrs. Houston lived in Macon County most of her life. She attended Prentiss Church of God for many years and attended Biltmore Church later in life. Grace loved to do jigsaw puzzles and word search puzzles. She also loved to take a thermos of coffee and go to the greenway and birdwatch with friends. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by five children, Dale Houston, Donna Templeton (Andy), Doug Houston, Darrell Houston, and Melvin Houston (Diane); seven grandchildren, Melissa Dula (Lee), Valerie Coffey (Josh), Julie Newton (Grant), Kaitlyn Powell (George), Jason Hall, Jeffrey Hall, and David Houston; six great grandchildren; brother, Grayson Tallent Jr. (Linda) her extended family of in-laws, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth Houston. She is also preceded by two brothers Bruce and Ernest Tallent, and one sister Blanche Tallent.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 13th from 5-7pm at Macon Funeral Home.
A service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 11am, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Reverends Tracy Tallent and Don Moffitt will officiate. Burial will follow at Sugarfork Baptist Church cemetery.
