Gloria Marie Sutton, 95, of Franklin, NC passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024.
A native Floridian, Gloria moved to Franklin in 2012 to be near her son, Hardee S. Sutton & family. As an avid quilter, she participated in various church quilting groups, making literally hundreds of quilt tops to be sent overseas. She also donated many hours making items for the Smoky Mountain Pregnancy Center, and stitched children's comfort items to be distributed by the Macon County Sheriff's Office.
Gloria loved to write and published two books. The first, "Memories in Verse," was a collection of poetry. The second, "Reflections of the Past, Bits & Pieces of This and That by a Cracker Girl," which highlights her experiences growing up during the Great Depression and WWII.
Gloria is predeceased by her husband, Hardee S. Sutton Jr, and daughter, Janice Claire Sperry, and brother Theodore W. Webb, Jr. She is survived by her son, Hardee S. Sutton, III (Monique) of Franklin, daughter, Mary Hazel Carman (Cary A. "Buck") of Middleburg, FL, two brothers, William E. Webb (Michelle), Shaughn J. Webb (Sandy), seven grandchildren, Richard Davis, Scott Davis, Christopher Davis, Cary Carman, Brooke Carman, Jordan Sutton and Kayla Sutton, fourteen great grandchildren, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
