Gladys Ruth Rowland, 71, of Franklin, NC, made her heavenly journey to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

Gladys was a native to Franklin, being born to the late Troy and Lottie Roper Swafford. She graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Psychology. She worked as a therapeutic parent for over 12 years. She enjoyed being outdoors and planting her flowers or just working in her garden. Reading a good book was another one of her past times; but her favorite book was the Bible. Gladys taught many Sunday School classes, and she also preached from time to time. Also serving as the church clerk at Burningtown Church of God for many years. She was a member of Franklin Church of God.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Johnny Rowland; daughter, Carrie Rowland; son, Mark Rowland (Bobbie Jo) of Mooresville, NC; five grandchildren, Tara Farnsworth, Troy Farnsworth, Thad Farnsworth of Hayesville, NC, Avery Rowland and Savannah Rowland of Mooresville, NC; sister, Martha Odom of Rutherfordton, NC; brother, Lee Swafford (Millie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 6th, from 1:30-2:30 at Franklin Church of God. The service will be held following the visitation. Pastors Michael Stephens, Ricky Brewer, Hank Conner, and Don Bates will officiate. Burial will be in the Tippett Cemetery.
