Gilbert Earl Abrams, 90, of Franklin, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Champagne, IL, to the late Claude and Ruby Haney Abrams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Pryor; and his siblings, Betty Nail, Eugene Abrams, and Wilma Abrams.

Gilbert was a devoted member of Bethel Methodist Church. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially fishing, visiting flea markets, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. He was known for his hardworking nature, his curiosity, and his ability to fix just about anything.

Above all, Gilbert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. He shared 70 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Clara Mae Applegate Abrams.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Clara Mae Abrams; his children, Gary Abrams and David Abrams (Dawn); his grandchildren, Josh Dillon (Anna), Tifani McClure (Tim), Jacob Harr (Heather), Christopher Harr (Wendy), and Mateya Abrams; his great-grandchildren, Sydni Wight, Travis Carpenter (Miriam), Mykayla McClure, Madison McClure, Jacob Harr, Jonah Harr, Leah Harr, Abby Harr; and his siblings, Norman Abrams and Sharon Easton.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
