Fred Palmer Deal, 85, of 6436 US HWY 158E, Leasburg, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Born in Macon County, NC, Mr. Deal was the son of the late Jake Palmer and Aver Watts Deal.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Deal and Floyd Deal and two sisters, Mildred Thompson and Joann Deal.

Mr. Deal attended Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church. He was retired from dairy farming having received the Young Farmers Award in Macon County; he was a member of the Caswell Cattleman Association. Fred served as President of the Holly Springs Development Association; he was a charter member of the Leasburg Fire Department and a member of the Ruitan Club. He was also retired from the Public Gas Service.

Mr. Deal is survived by his wife, Shirley Cox Deal; four children Tony Deal and wife Laverne, of Graham, Terry Deal and wife Mary Beth, of Liberty, Brian Lunsford and wife Gina, of Leasburg, Dana Lachapelle and husband Carl, of Haw River; one sister, Susie Wiggins and husband James, of Otto; five grandchildren, Lee Deal, Hannah Lunsford, Carson Lunsford Jeffreys, Clara Lachapelle and William Lachapelle.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, November 2nd at the Deal Farm, 419 Deal Road, Franklin, NC 28734. Rev. Gerald Thomas will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leasburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 14, Leasburg, NC 27291.
