Flora "Evelyn" Young Franks, 92, of Sylva, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late John and Lula Ann Ridley Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clinton Franks; three children, Steven Franks, Sandra Franks, and Clayton Franks; and three siblings, Arbutus Cochran, Margaret Hyatt, and John Young, Jr.; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Franks was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She loved her family, gardening, sewing, and tending her chickens. She loved watching her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She demonstrated the true meaning of Christian love and was a faithful Prayer Warrior.
She is survived by eight of her children, Ernest Franks, John Franks, Radford Franks, Lana Franks, Madelyn Robinson, Debbie Gaddis, Rebekah Franks, and Angela Franks; forty grandchildren; seventy-two great grandchildren; and twenty-eight great great grandchildren. Numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends from 7pm to 9pm on Sunday, August 20, at Macon Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2pm on Monday, August 21 at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Sylva. Rev. Eddie Stillwell and Rev. Frank Rodriguez will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Austin CornetteGaddis, Danny Ensley, Daniel Ensley, Jesse Franks, Rocky Franks, and Devin Chastain.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
