Ethel Marie Jenkins, 91, of Mountain City, GA, formerly a native of Franklin, NC passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024.
She was born in Swain County, NC, on September 16, 1932, to Nelson Woody and Hettie Rose. Ethel was completely herself all of her life, doing things the way she wanted. Unless you knew her, you wouldn't know under that quiet, calm exterior that she was a pistol, a feisty, funny, independent woman. She was truly an original, a beautiful soul.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clint Woody, and James Rose; husband, Kelly Jenkins; and daughters, Gladys Wykle and Helen Connor. She is survived by her children, Bobby Jenkins, Linda Giles, Charles Jenkins, Evelyn Bradley, and George Jenkins; sisters, Bernice Sigmon, Frances Morgan, and Barbara Cannon; brothers, Clyde Rose, and Harold Rose, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Sunday, June 2nd at Macon Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held, Monday, June 3rd, at 4pm, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Pastor Waylon Vinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Travis Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, Jason Jenkins, Brandon Carter, Carl Woody, Billy Connor, Dillon Connor, and Shane Havens.
