Elsie Sue Hurst Thompson, 84, of Franklin NC, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Elsie was a native of Macon County and was the daughter of the late Iradell and Birdell Lowe Hurst. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Thompson; son, Scotty Eugene Thompson; siblings, Irene Dowdle, Fred Hurst, Lyndon Hurst, Larry Hurst; and a granddaughter, Melissa Hurst.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Woody, Dianna Stewart, Tessa Hamby, Kimberly Larocque; grandchildren, Nick, Kevin, Dana, Christopher, Tiffany, Todd; great grandchildren, Anthony, Brianna; siblings, Danny Hurst, Bea Ann McCracken, Barbara Post, Freda Pressley; and several nieces and nephews.

She worked in the school system in the cafeteria and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
