Elsie Sue Hurst Thompson, 84, of Franklin NC, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Elsie was a native of Macon County and was the daughter of the late Ardele and Birdell Lowe Hurst. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Thompson; son, Scotty Eugene Thompson; siblings, Irene Dowdle, Fred Hurst, Lyston Hurst, and Larry Hurst. She worked in the school system in the cafeteria. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Woody, Dianna Stewart, Tessa Hamby, Kimberly Larocque; grandchildren, Nick Woody, Kevin Woody; great grandchildren, Dana Parrish, Christopher Larocque, Brianna Freeman; siblings, Danny Hurst, Bea Ann McCracken, Barbara Post, Freda Corbin; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
