Ella Durand, 93, of Franklin, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 in a local nursing home.

Born in Sombor, Yugoslavia, she was the daughter of the late Walter Wise and Adel Litwin Wise. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Durand, a WWII veteran who died in 1964. Ella was of the Catholic faith. Ella worked as a hairdresser in NY and became a homemaker after her marriage and spent several years working on a novel taking place in the post WWII era. She enjoyed learning about other cultures, having traveled in Europe and Canada as a child, and Iceland as an adult. She was well-loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by a daughter, Julie Millican and husband Jerry of Franklin; a son, Ronnie Anthony Durand and wife Klara of Coral Springs, FL; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Millican and Martin Paal.

She will be buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, with her husband Roland.
