We mourn the loss of Edwin Charles Welch. Born January 5, 1956, and passed away on October 26, 2023, at the age of 67.

Ed made his home in Franklin, NC, but had lived in Charleston, SC for many years, where he ran a successful construction business. He was a wise, and loving father to Harold Justin Welch and Sydney Lynn Welch; a dutiful and caring son to his mother, Elsie Holland, during her time on earth; as well as a beloved friend to Charlene Moses Norton and many others in the community.

Ed served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the burn center, while stationed in Korea. He later became a member of the VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 in Franklin, NC. He enjoyed collecting coins and art.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Harold Grady Welch; mother, Elsie Irene Passmore Holland; brother Max Welch; and a sister, Karen Payne. He is survived by his children, Harold Justin Welch, and Sydney Lynn Welch; brother, Duane Welch; two sisters, Linda Winstead, and Sandra Childress; and longtime friend, Charlene Moses Norton. Ed is also survived by a granddaughter, Bailey; his pet, Patches; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.

We are sorrowful of his passing but cherish and honor his memory.
