Edward Wilson of Franklin, North Carolina, left this earthly life for his heavenly home on September 2, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born March 24, 1946, to the late Riley and Pauline Wilson.

Edward was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd Landie Wilson, John Junior Wilson, Charles Wilson, and Mack Wilson.

He is survived by his children, Trent and Kimberly Shafer of Tennessee and Jonathan and Sarah Wilson of Franklin, North Carolina; his twin brother, James Wilson; sisters, Bernice Bates, Vonnie Carpenter, and Marylou Farmer; grandchildren, Trevor Dearborn, Kayla Mellies, Breanna Price, Aiden Mellies, Tanner Hughes, and Nevaeh Whitlock; and great-grandchildren, River Price, Renleigh Price, and Kristopher Henry. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, several of whom shared a very special bond with him. 

Edward was known for his incredible work ethic, working until the age of 72 and always arriving early for every shift. He loved electronics and could figure out how to hook up just about anything with a wire. He had a big heart, an unforgettable smile, and loved making others laugh with a good joke. 

Most importantly, Edward loved Jesus Christ and his family. When asked about his greatest accomplishment, he would proudly pull out his wallet and show pictures of his “babies,” Kimberly and Jonathan. Being their daddy was one of the greatest joys of his life.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 6th at 3:00 at the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home with Reverends Phillip Cochran, Robert Dryman, and David Hastings officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Edward leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will forever be treasured. Though his passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, there is comfort in knowing this is not goodbye forever.
