Edna Southard, Franklin, passed away one day following her 73rd birthday.
Edna was born in Iaeger, West Virginia to the late Ed Varney and Ora Mae Cassidy Varney.
She was a devoted member of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church where she was a former young adult Sunday School teacher. Edna liked to keep her mind and her hands busy- she enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, and crocheting.
Edna had a warm and comforting personality that would invite anyone to share their life story with her.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dwight Southard; son, Jonathan Southard (fiancee, Kayla Campbell) of Franklin; two step children, Karen Wade (Billy Cabe) of Cary, North Carolina and Chuck Southard (Maggie) of Franklin; sister, Patricia West of Roderfield, West Virginia; brother, Danny Varney of Welch, West Virginia; five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 27, 2024 in Woodlawn Cemetery, with Reverend Steve Reeves officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pretty in Pink Foundation to help breast cancer patients in North Carolina.
