Obituary
Douglas Marlin Neal, 80, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023.
Born in Chatham County, NC, Douglas was the son of the late Carl Lee and Vernie Tripp Neal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen Tallent Neal, and a sister, Nancy Daniel. Doug was a member of the Bynum Methodist Church in Bynum, NC. He enjoyed going to flea markets and being a collector of many things.
He is survived by his sister, Martha Collins of Bynum, NC; and his in-laws, Bill and Joyce Sanders, Katrina "Tinker" Dehart, Loletta Hodnett, Shirley and Edward Cope, Kalen Tallent, and Tina Tallent. Although Doug and Helen never had children of their own, they had numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, who they loved as their own.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Monday, August 7, at Windy Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Mark Bishop will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Windy Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
