Donald Eugene Marks, age 81, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024 while doing what he loved- working in his shop.
He was born in Washington, DC to the late Eugene Marks and Mary Jeanette Marks. He proudly served in the United States Navy during Vietnam.
Following discharge from the Navy, he attended the University of Central Florida and then taught calculus at Edgewater High School in Orlando. Donald returned to UCF to obtain his Master's before going to work as a defense contractor for Lockheed Martin in Orlando and also teaching as an adjunct instructor at the university.
In addition to sharing his love of math with his students, he left a lasting impact on their lives.

Donald closely followed college football and enjoyed visiting various football stadiums. He also enjoyed using his hands to make beautiful artwork from wood- including having made his own urn. He was president of the Western Carolina Wood Turner's Club and Vice President of the Brasstown Wood Turner's Guild.

He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Marks; son and daughter in law, Daniel Lee Marks and Jenny Clark Marks of Chapin, South Carolina; grandson, Joseph Clark Marks, student at Western Carolina University; brother, Thomas Keith Marks of Newark, Delaware; sister, Helen Marie Marks of Wilmington, Delaware.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Carrol Meinhaldt.

Donald's pride and joy was his grandson. In his honor, memorials may be directed to the Western Carolina University Foundation in care of the Western Carolina School of Music, 239 Memorial Drive, Cullowhee, North Carolina 28723.
