Obituary

Donald “Don” Frick, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on December 20, 1946, to the late Charles and Alice Goughnour Frick, passed away at his residence on May 6, 2026.

Don proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service, he moved from his hometown to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he met the love of his life, Debra Leopard Frick, his wife of 27 years. Their life took them from Baton Rouge to the swamps of Pierre Part, and eventually to the mountains of Macon County, North Carolina.

Don lived life with curiosity and adventure. He enjoyed scuba diving, spearfishing, camping, and photography, passions that reflected his love of the outdoors and the world around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, Bruce Wright.

Don is survived by his wife, Debra Frick; his five children, Wendy Lewis, Justin Frick (Katie), Andre’ Dabadie, Amy Demars (Chuck), and Marcus Dabadie; nine grandchildren Davis, Arden, Chloe (Jesse), Nathan, David, Silas, Beau, Gabriel, and Owen; and one great granddaughter, Halle. He is also survived by two of his closest lifelong friends, Charlie Ross and Don Smith.

A memorial service will be held at the Louisiana National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations made in Don’s name to Tunnel to Towers at www.t2t.org.
