David T. Barr, 93, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024.

He was born in Bridgeport, CT, the son of Tracey Thomas and Francena Marie Barr.

David was a straight-forward guy who loved the outdoors. In his younger days it was hunting and fishing. In Vermont he would go boating, skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing on Lake Champlain. After moving to Franklin in 1991, Dave and Terry joined the Nantahala Hiking Club and quickly Dave volunteered his time as trail maintainer for many years. He loved hiking in our mountains and also enjoyed RV trips to SW Colorado where he also hiked in the San Juan Mountains. Dave was also a skilled woodworker. He loved his dog Lucy and cat Sockee and of course his wife and family.

He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 61 years, Terry; his granddaughter, Denise Perugini (Joe), and their three children and grandson T.J. (Tara) and their three children; and his daughter-in-law Diane Barr. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Tracey Barr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Macon Funeral home, Wednesday, October 30th at 1pm. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm, with a reception at 1:30.
