John "Dave" Rehling, 63, of Franklin, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 26, 2008.
A native of Albany, New York, he was the son of the late Melvin M. Rehling and Alma L. Rehling. Dave moved from Albany, NY to St. Augustine, FL in 1972. He worked for St. Augustine Sightseeing Trains as a mechanic for many years. After vacationing in the mountains of western North Carolina for many years, he retired and relocated to Franklin in 2003. He was a singer and musician who enjoyed participating in music programs at Holly Springs Baptist Church of which he was a member.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Connie Rehling; daughter, Christy Solana and husband, Tony of St. Augustine, FL; sister, Pat Horinka of Scotia, NY; and two grandchildren, Kylie and Shane Solana, both of St. Augustine, FL.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Trull and Rev. Lynn Dulakis will officiate. Burial will be in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearaers will be Brian Siddall, Charlie Keeley, Jeff Hammaker, Harry Pegg, Bill Brannen, Milam Beasley, and Bill Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lamar Finley, Tillman Register, Wayne McDonald, and Jim Basey.
Memorial donations may be made to Holly Springs Baptist Church Music Department, 366 Holly Springs Church Road, Franklin, NC 28734. The family request no flowers.
