Danny Hancock, age 69, of Franklin, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 due to injuries he sustained in an accident that occurred while he was performing one final act of selflessness.

He was born in Illinois and lived much of his life in Corinth, Mississippi before moving to the mountains of Western North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, William Edward Hancock; mother, Helen Braddy Hancock; step mother, Shelley Hancock; sister, Yvonne Wilson; and brother, Marshall Driskell.

Danny loved all things mechanical which led him to tinker on and collect classic cars; and to accumulate numerous train sets. He will be remembered for his love for his family, for the corny jokes he enjoyed telling multiple times, and for the wonderful meals he enjoyed preparing for those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Hancock; son, Kenneth Hancock (fiancee, Tami Johnson); daughter, Sonja Moss; sister, Nancy Pace; brothers, Kelvin Hancock and Tommy Driskell; and several nieces and nephews. Danny was adored as PawPaw and PooPaw by his grandchildren, Jessica Godsey (Timmy) and Alisha Ladd (John); his great grandchildren, Damion, Hannah, Jayden, Steven, Michael, and Austin; and by his granddog, Bandi. He will also be missed by his four legged babies, Ollie, Zoe, Livie and Toby, and most of all by his special baby, Sam.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 19, 2024 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home with Reverend Jean Logan officiating. At a later date, Danny will be laid to rest on his property in the mountains that he loved so dearly.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
