Constance "Connie" Stiles, 69, of Franklin, NC, passed away peacefully in her home, Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
Connie was born in Sylva, NC, to the late Vernon Davis and Mary Constance Stiles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles that she loved.
She attended Franklin High and then Western Carolina University, graduating with honors. She retired from the US Forest Service; she was one of the first female fire fighters and was passionate about her job. She was a member and lay leader for Sylva First United Methodist Church and was involved with the praise band playing the drums and singing. She was also known for her wisdom and leadership to the community. Music was her passion; she started out playing with the band Tantrum then The Remnants, RockHoller, and Angels Off Center; performing as a vocalist and drummer. Connie enjoyed sports, playing basketball and softball in high school; then tennis at WCU. She played golf like a pro. Her fur baby, Ellie, and her home with Kellie was her life. While on this earth, she touched a lot of lives, having a heart of gold. She always had a smile for everyone and never met a stranger. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her life partner, Kellie Robinson; brother, David Stiles (Judy) of Lindon, NC; sister, Kelley Higdon (Phil); sons, Conner and Tucker Poston; nephews, Donnie D. Stiles, David Lee Stiles (Barbara); Tyler Higdon (Ashlyn); niece, Gina Endricks (Paul); great nieces and nephews, Bradley Stiles, Delaney Stiles, Anna Stiles, Brailyn Higdon, Colter Higdon; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 13th, from 4-6pm at Macon Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 19th, at 11am at First United Methodist Church of Sylva. Rev. Jessica Green, Rev. Mary Brown, and Rev. Karen Doucette will officiate.
