Clyde Earl Callenback, 86, of Franklin, NC, passed away on the evening of Monday, June 16, 2025.
Clyde was born in the Bridgecreek community in Rabun Co, GA, to the late John Avery and Lizzie Ritchie Callenback. He was a graduate of Rabun County High School class of 58. He retired from being a Textile Inspector for over 30 years and was a lifetime member of the NRA. Clyde attended Coweta Baptist Church until his health prevented him from doing so.
He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Evelyn McCoy Callenback, his daughter Lisa Fitzpatrick of Franklin, son Gregory Callenback of Tuckasegee NC and great granddaughter Rose Callenback of Bryson City NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his adopted son/grandson Shiinon Callenback of Franklin, his sisters Suwanee, Marguerite and Eunice. His baby brother Vaughn Callenback (77) of Rabun County GA has been missing since July 5, 2024.
Clyde enjoyed camping, carpentering, hunting, fishing with his wife Evelyn and providing for his family. He was a man with an endearing heart that would help anyone in need, any way he could, there was very little that Clyde could not do. He enjoyed spending time with his creator in God's forests and backwoods of Macon, Oconee and Rabun counties which he knew like the back of his hand. He was an avid supporter of the US constitution, Bill of rights, the environment, wildlife and the native Americans but a critic of the gentrification of the mountains, his lifetime sanctuary which he loved so very much.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 29th, from 1-2pm at Macon Funeral Home. A celebration of Clyde's life will be held at 2pm in the Chapel.
