Clinton Ledford, age 73, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024.
Clinton was born in Rabun County to the late Gordon Lowell Ledford and Ella Mae Seay Ledford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Ledford.
He was a proud member of the Franklin High School class of 1969. Following graduation, he went on to North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville where he lived in the dorms and played basketball. Both educational opportunities led to lifelong friendships that Clinton treasured deeply.
A true outdoorsman, Clinton had every man's dream job. He served the United States Forestry Service for 33 years in numerous capacities. He enjoyed spending his free time on a lawn mower, on the golf course, in a tree stand, or with Dale- fishing in Cherokee. In his later years, he simply enjoyed watching the world go by from his front porch.
He will be remembered for his humble demeanor, his congenial spirit, and his love for 60s music- especially the Temptations.
He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Hummel (Stephen); life partner, Janet Krom; brother, Phil Ledford (Bess); sister in law, Susie Ledford; Tiffany's mother, Brenda Ledford; and nieces, Breanna Pratt, Alice Ledford, and Casey Shope. Clinton loved all of his family, but the pride and joy of his life was his granddaughter, Caroline.
A celebration of Clinton's life will take place at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 29, 2024 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home with Reverend Don Moffitt and Reverend Terry Moffitt will officiate. Interment will follow in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Holland, Jerry Hodgin, Mike Sherrill, Bud Greenway, Ronnie Dowdle, Jerry Wilson, Derik Breedlove, and the class of 69 lunch buddies.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a savings account for Caroline Hummel at Nantahala Bank and Trust.
