Charles "Chuck" William Mallonee, 62, of Franklin, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 31, 2023, after a courageous battle.
Chuck was born in Buncombe County, the son of the late Thomas Lane and Esther Rivers Mallonee. He graduated with a Masters in social work from the University of North Carolina. He worked for 35 years with the NC Department of Juvenile Justice and had a passion for kids. Chuck would always strive to be a positive role model for kids. He was very active with his children and their friends as they were growing up, coaching baseball, basketball, soccer, and softball. He was a very active member of Franklin First United Methodist Church and a founding board member of Kid's Place in Franklin. He was an avid woodworker and built beautiful furniture.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Teresa Ward Mallonee; children, Jessica Mallonee of Johnson City, TN, and Chase Mallonee of Charlotte, NC; brother, Thomas Lane Mallonee (Angie) of Candler, NC; brother in law, Bobby Ward (Jennifer) of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Chris Mallonee (Michelle) of Candler, NC; and nieces, Kaleigh Ward and Alden Ward of Atlanta, GA. Chuck is also survived by his numerous friends who he considered family.
A Celebration of Life will be 2pm on Wednesday, September 6 at First United Methodist Church. Rev. David Beam will officiate.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gus Wilde, Jim Garner, Tom Forkner, Joe Testino, Tom Kilby, Rod Watson, James Nash, Fred Jones, nephew Chris Mallonee and brother-in-law Bobby Ward.
A time of gathering with family and friends will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kids Place or Be the Match.
