Christie Lynn Thomas, age 50, entered into her everlasting life in the early days of June 2025.
Christie was born in Franklin, NC on October 16, 1974. She spent her adolescent and teen life in Franklin and later relocated to Ocean Isle Beach, NC with the family she built as an adult.
She was the daughter of the late Ray Thomas and Jeanette Anthony Thomas. She was the older sister to Jeff & Jake Thomas, who preceded her in death. May the five of them have a heavenly reunion filled with unfathomable joy.
Christie leaves behind Nephews - Nathaniel and Taylor Thomas, Niece - Mackenzie Thomas, Aunts - Thelma Carpenter, Katie Rowland, and Bobbie Clark, Uncles - Earl and Lonnie Thomas and Leon Anthony, along with many cousins and extended family and friends. Christie also leaves behind a bestie and "sister" Candy Slagle, they were each other's confidant. Last but never least, Darlene Green. Although she was Christie's aunt, she stepped up into more of a mother role for Christie. Guiding her through life, being a constant for her no matter the storm, believing in her, and always seeing the good. You were her hero.
If you knew Christie, you know what we mean when we say she could have the entire room in a belly laughter with two sentences. Standing at a whopping five feet tall, she was like a TNT box, but it was usually an explosion of laughter waiting to happen, maybe even in some of the more serious moments. Christie was unapologetically her and she always encouraged everyone around her to be the same way about themselves. She didn't care who you were, you had a friend in your corner if you knew her. Her favorite thing to do? Spend hours looking at every item on every aisle in her favorite stores, but we're definitely hitting clearance first! We won't consider it shopping, but she was a rather great browser with occasional purchases. Christie was a loving mother of two to Bree Sanders and Zach Ward. She is better described as a "mother bear" because if you want to see someone act an entire fool over her children, you find her. We were never scared at any time with her because she'd move the moon if we asked her to. She had three grandchildren - Braxton, Jack, and Sailor Turner. They asked us to make sure you all know she was "the best mimi like ever." She was an incredible mother; but once the grandchildren came along, it was a new love for her, and it changed her world in the time it needed to the most. Now, all of a sudden though, she had that McDonalds and Walmart money so "the angels could have anything they wanted." They were the light of her life, and it's ok, we forgive her for treating us like rag dolls second to them. Kidding kidding.
Christie never had a specific job she worked at, but she did it all. Home healthcare, running bank departments, managing tax companies and working for restaurants. She even worked some commission based jobs, and boy, she would be selling ice cubes to Eskimos, you hear me.
Now that we're mentioning it, she really did have to be the boss of everything, huh? Hey, somebody's gotta do it! In the last few years before her passing, Christie became re-certified as an aide through the Veterans Affairs and devoted her life to taking care of her father in his last years of life In Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Christie had many different activities she enjoyed doing, but everything came second to scratching lottery tickets. I'm pretty sure if it was an Olympic sport, she would take home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. She was like a wildflower growing and going wherever the wind took her. She was the epitome of a free spirit and lover of all things.
Christie will be so deeply missed. May her spirit and memory live on in all of the people she ever came in contact with. We will have a celebration of life on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Moss Valley Venue. We will have a meal at 7:00 pm followed by a lantern release at dusk.
