Chester Hope Stanley, 87, of Franklin passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late James Monroe and Jesse Luna Franks Stanley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Susie Carpenter Stanley; three sisters, Mary Sue Ledford, Bonnie Holbrooks, and Jean Stanley; and eight brothers, D.C Stanley, James Stanley, Cecil Stanley, George Stanley, LeRoy Stanley, Frank Stanley, Bill Stanley, and Fred Stanley. Chester was a member at Prentiss Church of God. He loved working in timber and logging alongside his son Chuckie for many years. Chester enjoyed sharing stories with all who knew him, walking through the woods, and spending time with his family. After his wife, Susie passed away in September of 2022, he spent every day missing her.
Chester is survived by his son Charles "Chuckie" Stanley (Teresa) of Franklin; daughter, Melissa "Missy" Browning (Keith) of Franklin; honorary daughter, Beverly Adams (Eddie) of Piedmont, SC ; two brothers, Robert Stanley, and Harold Stanley both of Franklin; five grandchildren, Chet Stanley (Heather), Katie Wiggins (Brad), Tyler Cook, Miranda Cook, and Mekenzie Cook; and seven great grandchildren, Pender, Maelee, Brenley, Casey, Sylvie, Kobe, and Eli. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Wednesday, February 21, at Macon Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2pm in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home, immediately following the visitation. Rev. Terry Moffitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Gillispie Chapel cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Stanley, Scotty Stanley, Chet Stanley, Stevie Stanley, Brad Wiggins, Tyler Cook, James Hopkins, and Eddie Adams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dwight Southards, Bud Shope, Roger Cunningham, and Gary McCall.
