Obituary

Cheryl Jo Harrington, 79, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Cheryl was born in Shelbyville, IN, to the late John Deiwert and Helen Gullett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kevin Deiwert of Wellford, SC, Kim Deiwert of Greer, SC; sisters, Jane Brown of Duncan, SC; and Kathy Elmore of Greer, SC.

Cheryl started out with GE and worked for them for about three years then moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and worked for Behring Properties. After the death of her husband's father they left for New England and she worked for Ed Burns' Realty in Arlington, MA. From there they moved to Hopkinton, MA and she worked for the telephone company and then went to work for New England Electric as a secretary for the mid-east comptroller during the oil crisis. From there they moved to York, Maine and she went to work as a real estate agent with Bragdon Realty. After the kids finished school they moved to Hampton, NH where Cheryl continued her real estate career in New Hampshire. After 32 years with Boston Edison her husband retired and they moved to Bradenton, FL where Cheryl worked as a real estate agent with Michael Saunders.

She was a prolific reader, excellent gardener, and a hiker at a younger age. She hiked all the Lower White Mountains including Mount Washington and she also hiked Mount Katahdin, the end of the Appalachian Trail, all after the age of 60! She loved to cook and was a real people person.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Harrington of Hayesville, NC; children, Jodie Rodewald (Pete) of Franklin; Zach Harrington (Lisa) of Venice, FL; grandchildren, Cameron and Mackenzie Rodewald, and Dylan Harrington. Also surviving, brother, Jay Deiwert (Robert) of Maudlin, SC; sisters, Beverly Waldrop of Greer, SC, and Carla Sue Sexton of Woodruff, SC.

We are all devastated by her loss. She was the rock of our family. She was the "git'er done". Cheryl was a great bride, mother, Nana, and friend. She was someone you met and wouldn't forget.

The family will receive friends, Sunday May 4th from 1:30-2pm at Holly Springs Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Boys Town.
