Charles "Uncle Charlie" Erwin McClure, 73, of Franklin NC, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 6, 2023.
Charlie was the son of the late William Howard and Alma Hastings McClure. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William "Billy" McClure. He attended Western Carolina University and Southwestern Community College, graduating with a degree in Business. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He liked to play Bingo, write poetry, landscape his yard, and take care of his house plants. He sure had a "Green Thumb".
He loved his nieces and nephews. He always had a story or joke to make you laugh. Whether it be his feats on the football or baseball field or him and Uncle Johnny getting into mischief, we were constantly entertained with his stories. He kept his sisters on their toes, his brothers rolling their eyes, and his nieces and nephews laughing until their belly hurt.
He is survived by brothers, Sammy McClure, John McClure (Melissa); sisters, Barbara Raby, Linda Hughes(David); and numerous nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 10, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Guy Duvall and Rev. Greg Rogers will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11am, one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Ben Henson, Byron McClure, Ryan Raby, Timothy McClure, Skip Salenius, and Chad Salenius.
In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Care Net, 130 Bidwell Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
