Charles Honeycutt, also known as Charlie, Snook, and Snooky, age 89, Otto, passed away Sunday, May 25 while he was surrounded by his loving family.
Charlie was born in Miami, the oldest of five boys, to Charles Reed Honeycutt and Ollie Wadsworth Honeycutt.
Charlie worked his way up through the ranks of what is now known as AT&T. He worked hard, but he also played hard. Athletically inclined, Charlie enjoyed all sports- especially fast pitch softball and bowling. He was active in the Macon County Senior Games where he excelled in all areas, and he was also the designated "whistler" when time came to get everyone's attention.
He will be remembered for his love of family and his love for animals.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter in law, Linda Honeycutt; son in law, Gordon Kroeger; and two brothers.
Charlie is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of nearly 70 years, Milly Honeycutt; two children, Vince Honeycutt and Nancy Kroeger; two brothers, Paul Honeycutt and Tom Honeycutt; and several nieces and nephews. Although Charlie had several nicknames, "Pop-Pop" was the name he was proudest of. He is survived by his three grandchildren, Rebecca Jones (Brian), Nicole Drooger (Jamie), and Jason Kroeger (Tanya); and three great grandchildren, Hunter Kroeger, Alexis Kroeger, and Atlas Kroeger- due next week.
No services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Appalachian Animal Rescue Center.
