Obituary

Charlene Winkler Puckett, 'Char', 62 of Franklin NC passed away unexpectedly on May 15th, 2024.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles 'Henry' Winkler and Evelyn Winkler. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband Gary Puckett. Children: son Jody McCreadie of Florida, daughter Lori McCreadie (Jeff) of Blairsville Georgia, son Chris McCreadie of Franklin, daughter Sharon Harden of Florida, daughter Mechelle Karolyi (Jessica) of Florida, son Scott Puckett (Melissa) of Franklin, daughter Amelia Puckett (Chris) of Franklin, daughter Traci Collins of Blairsville, and son Eric Childers of Franklin. Along with her beloved little dog Lilly.

Grandchildren: Brittany McCreadie, Zane Sanderlin, Kalob Tanner, Quin Puckett, Naomi and Olivia Harden, Evelyn and Naveah Childers.

Char graduated from Zephyr Hills High School class of 1980, and Tyler County School of Nursing Class of 1985. She moved to Blairsville Georgia about 1995, then to Franklin in about 2003. She and Gary were united in marriage on April 5th, 2003.

Char spent many years providing care to innumerable patients over the years, including at former Britthaven of Franklin on the dementia and Alzheimer's unit, as well as for Dr. Foley's office in Franklin. She was born to be a caregiver, and everything she did in life was based around caring for others. She had a heart for ensuring everyone she encountered knew they were loved and always managed to find ways to show that, especially through food. She always made sure she knew everyone's favorite foods, and dislikes. She loved to host parties of all sizes from the Thanksgiving dinners of 50+ people to the weekly family pool tournament night, she always ensured there was an abundance of foods, drinks, and desserts. She loved cooking and it showed by always giving amazing dishes to others as well as never letting anyone come by without trying to feed them.

She NEVER said no to assisting in the care of those she loved, no matter the time of day or the inconvenience to herself, her sacrifices were immeasurable. She went the extra mile to care for family members in need. Among the many family she provided amazing care to included her parents, ensuring her daughters medical needs were met, father-in-law(s) Darrell and Ray, and mother-in-law Georgia, the grand entrance of her grandson she never thought she would have. Each were always shown so much grace, dignity, love, and never-ending devotion.

She was the one person everyone could call just to chat, get advice, a shoulder to cry on, or to get a helping hand.

She loved to vacation with her beloved husband as much as possible. Some of her favorite destinations include going to the casinos, beaches, picnicking with family and friends at Standing Indian, cruises, Vegas, or any road trip! She loved her and Garys vacations taking family to the beach. These times with her, the warmth of her love and dedication, and the memories will forever be in our hearts.
