With deep sadness, the family of Charity Lynn Maloy announce her passing on September 9, 2026, at her home surrounded by so many who loved her. Charity, born on July 15, 1983, to Rick and Vicki Bates was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Charity was passionate about many things but mostly her family. Her Daughters were the light of her life, and she poured all of her heart and energy into every part of them. She touched many lives in the community with her creative ability in her salon, Charity’s Hair Studio, which in turn made her a confidant, a counselor and friend. She forged friendships that felt more like family and lasted decades. Charity spent many hours on the ballfield in her early years and then passed the torch to her daughters who excelled athletically. She enjoyed being outdoors, family gatherings, vacationing and building a beautiful home that she welcomed others to with open arms.
Charity is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Marcus Maloy, her three beautiful daughters, Nevaeh Tran, Meyaeh Tran and Layla Maloy, her parents Rick and Vicki Bates, her maternal grandmother Marilyn Bingham, her sisters, Nichole Bates (Justin) and Natasha Bates (Jerry), nieces Tessa Dehart, Jozy Dehart, Cali Queen and Ila Hodgins, and nephew Myles Queen, great niece Dally Mae and special child of her heart, Trey; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral from 1:00-3:00 pm. Pastor Luke Bateman will officiate. Burial will follow at Rush Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers; Myles Queen, Gabe Bingham, Matt Bingham, Jacob Bingham, Zac Dover, Joe Bichard, Justin Fuller and Noah Jones.
