Obituary

Catherine "Cate" Wintermute Robb, 93, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, after a period of declining health.

Born in Somerville NJ, Cate was the daughter of the late Vern and Mildred Gray Wintermute. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Richard Kidder, second husband Richard "Rich" S. Robb, brother Vern Richard Wintermute, and sister Mildred Wintermute Boylan.

Cate's career choice was to become a registered nurse, as she liked helping others. She was able to do that for a number years in Florida before moving to North Carolina, where she continued to help the community in other ways. She loved spending time with family and hosted cherished Thanksgivings at her home with Rich in Franklin.

Cate was a great cook but was famous for her fresh baked pies. She also loved knitting, making baskets, woodworking, and refinishing furniture. She was exceptionally good at crafting and spent much of her time coloring in later years. Cate loved her flower gardens and looked forward to every spring when the flowers would start to bloom. She always kept fresh flowers in a vase to remember her mother. That tradition will be continued in Cate's honor as well; Cate will be remembered and she will be missed.

Cate was of the Catholic faith. While living in Franklin, she also attended the Liberty Baptist Church alongside her husband.

She is survived by step-daughter, Cheryl Ann Bottorff (Earl) of Sarasota, FL; step-son, Richard S. Robb, Jr. (Kathleen) of Seneca, SC and five step-grandchildren, Myrick Robb, Victoria Reynolds, Kaitlin Robb Price, Bruce Bottorff and Steve Bottorff; and numerous great step-grandchildren, great-great step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-5 pm at Macon Funeral Home on Saturday April 26th. A celebration of life will be held at 5pm in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Davis Hooper will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Appalachian Animal Rescue Center.
