Carl Bruce Sontag. 85, of Franklin passed away on February 24, 2026. He was born in Miami-Dade County to the late Raymond and Nellie Sontag on July 23, 1940. The family moved to Franklin in 1975.

Carl ran a mechanic shop for many years. He enjoyed cars and was a member of the Gem City car club and the Mountaineer car club in Maggie Valley. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by a daughter, Kelley Sontag Bates (Ricky Dale); one son Kenneth Sontag; grandchildren, Payton Sontag Saxon (Alex), Violet Sontag Elliott, Kelsie Elliott (Ricky), and Scott Elliott (Sandra); eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Sontag is preceded in death by his wife Janice who passed on February 26, 2025.

The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
