Clarence "Bud" Moffitt, 81, of Franklin, NC passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Bud was the son of the late Roy and Clara Stamey Moffitt. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alma Berg and Barbara Cromer; and a great grandson, Caleb Watson. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and he helped at the old St. Francis Church. He was commonly referred to as "Pop".
Bud joined the Army and was stationed in Indiana, where he met and married Dee. While there he worked at Bethlehem Steele for 10 years. He decided to move back to Franklin, NC, "God's Country". He retired from LBJ Job Corp and later started driving a school bus for 25 years. He loved his job because he loved children. He enjoyed playing cards and board games, he loved to win as he was very competitive. He was passionate about softball and coached girls' softball for 20 years. He took pride in growing a garden and mowing. He never failed to bring Dee a flower from the yards that he took care of. His greatest passion was his love for his families and spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delia "Dee" Zacarias Moffitt; two daughters, Colleen Watson (Chuck) and Germaine Moffitt; grandchildren, Jacob Watson, Emily Ballant (Ryan), Eli Moffitt, Parker Watson; siblings, Don Moffitt, Frank Moffitt, Terry Moffitt, Helen Ammons; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday January 29th, at 12pm at St Francis Catholic Church. Father Tien will officiate. The family will receive friends in the life center at the church following the service.
