Branch H. Buchanan, 87, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late James Ellis Buchanan and Ruby Mason Buchanan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Blanton Buchanan; brothers, Kenneth, Max, and Wade; sisters, Pearl Campbell, Anna Mae Brabson, and Thelma Smith. Branch was a US Army veteran and was a member of Iotla Baptist Church. He was the co-owner of Macon County Supply; owner of B & B Home Center, Macon Furniture Mart, and Buck's Furniture; and co-founder of Macon Funeral Home. After retiring, he enjoyed farming, tending to his yard, and spending time with his family.
Branch is survived by his daughter, Karen Buchanan Bacon and husband Barry; son, Larry Buchanan and wife Missy; grandchildren, Andy Alligood and wife Holly, Jessica Nahlen and husband Ben, Matthew Buchanan, James Buchanan, Jennifer Bacon Barbour and husband Scott and Elise Bacon Dailey and husband Walter; great grandchildren, Austin Alligood, Charlotte Alligood, Elijah Barbour, and soon to be born, Madeline Joy Nahlen; brother, Raleigh Buchanan and wife Maggie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, at Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Luke Bateman will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 27, at Macon Funeral Home.
