Betty Jean Scott, 89, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late John and Ethel Bailey Sanders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Scott, and her son-in-law, David Barlow.
Betty was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in caring for her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. She enjoyed painting, shopping, and spending time at home, where she was happiest surrounded by those she loved. Her kind spirit, gentle nature, and dedication to her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Downs (Max), Linda Stewart (Steve), Teresa Martin (Dennis), and Donna Barlow; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends at Watauga Baptist Church from 10-11am on October 12th. A service will be held at 11am. Rev. Thomas James and Wesley Price will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Betty's family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her love, devotion, and the special moments shared throughout her life.
