Obituary
Betty Dickerson Penland, 94, of Franklin, NC, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Betty was born in Rabun, GA, to the late Dewey Lee and Grace E. Moffitt Dickerson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Thompson; siblings, Wilma Long, Harold Dickerson, and Douglas Dickerson. She was a licensed practical nurse for 25 years. She loved to feed the squirrels and birds that surrounded her home. As well as; reading, flower gardening, and sewing as other hobbies. She was a member of Wells Grove Baptist Church, where she served faithfully before her health declined.
She is survived by her daughters; Patricia Cook(Jerry) of Franklin, Brenda Buckner of Asheville; siblings, Bobby Dickerson of GA, Riley Dickerson of TN, Jeanette Still of FL; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Appalachian Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 81, Franklin, NC 28744.
