Obituary

Bette Ann Beaman, 94, of Franklin, NC passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024. Born in Hammond, IN, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe Rogers and Grace Gertrude Willis Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Berton "Dwight" Beaman, her brother Robert Rogers and granddaughter, Heather Freeman. Bette was a true servant of the people as she was very active in her church, starting with her serving as a Youth Counselor for 5 years at First United Methodist Church in Hammond, IN and then continuing with her service and involvement with Snow Hill United Methodist where she sang in the Choir and helped lead Bible Studies with her husband Dwight. She was also heavily involved in the Masonic Lodge and Ladies Shrine as a Lifetime Member of the Order of the L.O.S. of N.A./Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.) where she rose to the position of High Priestess in 1975. After moving to Franklin, NC in 1992, she became actively involved in the Franklin Lions Club volunteering each year to assist in administering free eye exams to the local students in the Franklin Elementary schools. Bette was a past President of the Franklin Lions Club as well as being honored as the "Lion of the Year".

Bette is survived by her two sons, Darrell Dwight Beaman and wife Kathy of Charlotte, NC and Vice Admiral Gerald Roger Beaman, USN (ret.) and wife Yvonne of Charlotte, NC. Sister-in-law Donna Beaman of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Richard Dwight Beaman (Loretta), Merritte Marie Miszuk, Kylene Rae Nicolopoulos (Shane) and Ryan Darrell Beaman (Amanda), 11 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-great grandchildren.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, July 28 at The Manor III, 12910 Dorman Rd, Pineville, NC, and her interment will be held with a church service and graveside ceremony on Monday, July 29th at 10 am at the Snow Hill Methodist Church, Franklin, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
